1980 – 1993: Associate Professor of Neurology.
1994- 2016: Full Professor of Neurology.
1975: Founded the Headache Centre at the University of Parma. He was the director together with collaborators directly trained by him until 31st October 2016 when he retired from the University Hospital of Parma. In 41 years of activity more than 24,000 patients from different regions of Italy were treated at the Headache Centre.
In 2000 he founded, together with prof. Vincenzo Bonavita, Professor emeritus of the University of Naples and Prof. Gennaro Bussone, Head of Department of the Besta Neurological Institute in Milan, the Training School on Headaches (ASC) which continues its activity to this day by conducting restricted residential courses.
As a professor he has always carried out his activities at the University of Parma, assuming the following main functions:

• Coordinator of the Neurology Course part of the degree in Medicine and Surgery;
• Coordinator of the Neurology and Psychiatry Course part of the Master of Science degree in Dentistry;
• Director of the Postgraduate School of Neurology.

As a researcher, he has conducted studies in the field of Epidemiology and Study and Treatment of Headaches that have produced over 500 scientific articles published in national and international journals. In addition, he was an Editor of the Volumes on Neurology and Headaches.
