Education and training

Degree in Medicine and Surgery – Medical Speciality in Psychiatry (with Honours). Enlisted in the Registry of Psychotherapists of the Medical Association in Parma. Fifth place in the 1986 national competition for the Head doctor qualification (idonietà primariale) – Health Management Course “Top Management”, Università Bocconi SDA School of Management. Training in Planning, Epistemology, Organizational Analysis, Group Communication, Mass Communication and Teaching Methodology.

Work experience

1976-1992: clinical activity in the Psychiatric Services, Colorno, Parma.
1992: Head Consultant at the SIMAP of the Castelnuovo Monti Local Health Authority (ASL) n.13. He then proceeded to become the Head Consultant of Reggio Emilia’s ASL Department of Mental Health.
October 2002 – June 2008: Head consultant and Director of the Guastalla-Correggio ASL District.
Lecturer and private psychiatrist and psychotherapist. President of the Cultural Association "History Museum of Psychiatry of San Lazzaro", Reggio Emilia.
Professor Emeritus since 2009 at the Angelico Constantiniana Academy of Sciences, Literature and Arts, Rome.

Teaching experience:
2008–2010: Visiting Professor in Architecture and Psychology, University La Sapienza of Rome.
2009–2011: Visiting Professor in Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, for the Degree Course in Nursing, University of Parma.
2011–2012: Lecturer in Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, for the Degree Course in Nursing, University of Parma.
2012 –2016: Seminar Lectures at the Psychotherapy School of Adleriana, Reggio Emilia.
Member of official committees in Health Education, forensic psychiatry/TSO (Involuntary Treatment) and other regional institutional groups. Showed particular interest in Psychopharmacotherapy, Psychogeriatrics and History of Psychiatry. For years, he has been concerned with the relationship between literature and psychiatry. Since 2000 he is part of the International PEN Club, International Association of Writers. As a cultural operator, he has performed more than three hundred different interventions.
