Neurology is the branch of medicine that studies the function and disorders related to the central nervous system, the peripheral system and the autonomous peripheral nervous system.
After the 1970s in Italy, the treatment of diseases of the nervous system were voiced in neurology and psychiatry from a scientific, medical and educational point of view.
By now all over the world, the two fields of study are usually practiced separately, especially for the huge amount of data and knowledge that both have accumulated in the last 50 years that are now difficult to condense into a single cycle of education.
Diseases of the nervous system are distinguished and investigated according to their anatomy and etiopathogenesis.
The first phase in the diagnosis is the reconstruction of the patient’s medical history, recording the symptoms related to the disorder, their onset and evolution.
As for other medical pathologies, neurological pathologies are classified according to the pathogenic mechanisms.
