The phase of manual physical therapy or kinesis is carried out by specialists through various rehabilitation techniques:Maitland: a therapy that includes a detailed examination, diagnosis and treatment of various conditions that cause pain and mobility problems. Its characteristic is that of not focusing on the technique, but on the philosophy behind the treatment, meaning basing the treatment on the analytical examination and assessment.
Kaltenborn: a specific technique where the therapist can examine and treat musculoskeletal disorders by following the clinical reasoning of manual therapy and a physiotherapy-based diagnosis.Mezieres: it is a demanding postural and corrective technique, both physically and psychologically. It is advised for normalizing all osteo-muscle-joint problems and has as focus areas the functional spinal, joint, muscle and dysmorphic disease. In addition, it is particularly recommended for preventing contractures, strains, sprains, tendinitis and it is used as part of preventive medicine.
Osteopathy per adults, children and pregnancy: it is a system of diagnosis and treatment which, although based on fundamental knowledge and traditional medical sciences, does not implicate the use of medication or the need for surgery, but works through manipulations and specific manoeuvres that are effective for the prevention, assessment and treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal, cranio-sacral and visceral conditions. In addition, it is concerned with the alarm bell syndrome and aims to identify its causes.
Lymphatic drainage: a massage technique that helps lymphatic drainage from the tissues through a series of precise manual actions performed on the patient’s body that, by setting pressure of certain tissues thus allowing an improvement in blood circulation.
Sports massage: a deep tissue massage, specifically used for muscles and executed via friction, effleurage and vibration. The massage is done by hand or with specificinstruments.
Tissue massage: therapeutic treatment focused on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. It is especially useful for chronic pain and contractures as it helps to restore normal mobility by alleviating the condition.
